Just under 8 months ago I embarked on a personal and professional coaching journey. I decided to step away from my nutrition business and retrain to be an ICF (International Coaching Federation) accredited professional coach with Optimus Coach Academy. As part of our training we had to be coached for the duration of the course, little did I know how much it would change my life.
I've experienced first hand how powerful coaching is which has only strengthened my passion to help women who feel stuck transform their lives through life coaching. Here are five things that coaching has done for me so far:
I've realised I am "good enough"
I’m good enough. That’s a phrase I’ve struggled to say and believe in myself. But since starting the course, I finally feel like I can say those words without feeling like a fraud.
I've discovered I always have a choice
I don’t have to live the way others expect or want me to live. This is one of the biggest lessons from coaching that has impacted on me personally and professionally. For example, when someone says “you should do this…” it might be useful to follow their suggestion, but it doesn’t mean you have to follow it. You have a choice!
I feel deeply in tune with my body
The coaching process encouraged me to listen to my body and honour what it needs. I do this regularly, I've found myself more aligned with what feels right and what doesn't, which helps me make better choices for myself.
I feel more confident in all areas of my life
Coaching has helped me believe even more in myself and my ability to achieve goals I set for myself, which leads to living a more fulfilled life.
It's helped me discover who I am and what I want out of life
As a coach you're trained to ask empowering questions that help your clients clarify what they want out of life and who they are as individuals. Being coached was part of the training, this meant that after every session I was left with some pretty thought provoking questions to ponder over.
These questions got me thinking about what matters most to me in life, what kind of person do I want to be and what it is that makes me genuinely happy? This in turn has helped me make more conscious decisions about how I spend my time and the direction of my business.
Coaching is a powerful catalyst for personal change and growth. Just remember, any changes you want to make in your life seem scary at first. It's only through facing the fear that you can truly do something amazing and completely change how you view yourself.
So if you have a niggling feeling that life should be better and you're prepared to do something different, then go ahead and book in for an online call or in person chat at Chorlton Health Hub and make a start on your journey of change.
